In order to strengthen the instruments of administrative cooperation and mutual support among the Member States, as required by the Directive 2014/67/EU, the “Internal Market Information” (IMI) system is an online free tool that facilitates the exchange of information between public control authorities of EU Member States regarding the transnational posting of workers.
In fact, the IMI gives the competent control authorities of a Member State, that must be registered with it, to operate with the system (in Italy, the National Labour Inspectorate and its local offices), to identify the corresponding authorities in other EU States and to communicate easily and quickly with them by means of various pre-translated standard questions and answers, and through a tool for the automatic translation of any text into all the official languages of the EU.
These questions will enable operators to have all the relevant information concerning either the companies posting workers within the EU Countries or regarding the posted workers; these information are necessary to define the inspections of transnational posting carried out by the competent authorities upon request.
Furthermore, the Directive 2014/67/UE determines the implementation of the IMI system by the activation of two new tools concerning either the notification of an administrative or judicial measure, or the recovery request of administrative penalties to the authorities of each Member State. These tools will be used by the competent authorities with respect exclusively to matters regarding the breach of transnational posting rules.
